Post Dexter Thread *Spolier Potential in The House*
So after The Merc and I had an in depth discussion on how we feel the show should go next season, I figured why not get everyone's opinion/prediction.

For the record, I'm hoping that Dexter takes his son on the road - Rita's kids go to the grandparents we were introduced to in the finale. Miami is boring and the other story lines are holding water for me. He needs to pull a Trinity and bring the act on the road to a town near you.

Discuss.

Well you know my thoughts... the rest of you don't however...

Dexter is at a fatale point in my mind. One which Prison Break completely ignored and well... look where it got them. I mean come on how many prisons can the same trio break out of before you start begging for a wall to smash you head up against?!!

Anywho, Dexter has a expiration date in my mind. I'm sorry but it does. If they don't try and say something about this character in a definitive way soon they are going to find their room to dwell on the mundane is going to shrink further and further. I think there's only so much potential to move Dexter around and only so many new environments before it just becomes 'smoke and mirrors' to the viewers.

Hopefully the writers will acknowledge this and start drawing some conclusions to the story. One of the greatest aspects of Battlestar Galactica (as confused as the ending was...) was that it had an ending. It felt like a much tighter story because of their pre-defined four season layout. Tight stories are better stories. Nobody likes seeing their favorite pets death drag on longer than it should, just becomes torture. I hope they recognize when this time comes! I thought I saw it happen last season. But they put a nice twist at the end...

TO THE WRITERS OF DEXTER: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RECREATE DOAKES IN QUINN! QUINN IS A DOUCHE AND SHOULD NOT SEE PAST NEXT SEASON! THERE WILL ONLY EVER BE ONE DOAKES!

The never ending story format of US shows is a major reason I watch a LOT of Brit TV as well. Seasons make thing interesting, but ideally splitting it into series 1, 2, etc works better for me. Not to say there aren't some cliffhangers in UK shows, and that in some cases it really works a la Supernatural (those SOBs making us wait all Summer for closure all the time), but really it opens the door for it to never end.

Perfect example, when the hell will we meet Ted's future wife in How I Met Your Mother? Now last episode they toyed with us and you see her foot? STOP IT. The show does have to end so get to the point. Frankly I'd rather a show be concise and span a few years and have as few lows as possible, as opposed to simply going until the ratings give out.

My 2 cents. Now get Dexter on the road and doing something new. Dark passenger needs to drive.

Check it out - http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/03/05/dexter-season-5-spoilers/ - Dexter season 5 sneaks straight from the ex producer's mouth. Nothing I would consider spoilers, but yeah maybe you will want to think twice about reading it....too late I'm discussing it now suckers.

Sounds like it'll be what I'm hoping for - more internal struggles, less season story convention....the whole chasing an enemy to take them at the end of the season was getting old. I'd still prefer Dexter hit the road and start doing the Trinity thing himself across America.
