From Boing Boing this morning. I went to the CBC news site and indeed, there it is, the new CBC/iCopyright partnership in all it's glory. They have to be off their rockers because yeah US copyright laws are totally applicable here, and I TOTALLY bet everyone will be paying that ridiculous amount of money for the rights. If I were to fork over that much cash, I'd be claiming I wrote the damn article. So everyone watch out - from what I saw linking to the story on the site should be OK, but granted I was too disgusted by it all to read the fine details. Heaven help you if any of the content shows up on your site though - including quotes. Remember people, paraphrase and link, paraphrase and link. |
